Description

Submerge yourself within the extraordinary Germany separated during WWII joining our Free Walking Tour Berlin Wall and Cold War. This essential tour will make you understand the influence of Berlin in the history of Europe while the two world powers EEUU and the Soviet Union almost started a Third World War.

To understand how life was in former Berlin there is no better place than the Palace of Tears to know their sorrows. Also, the ghost station of Nordbahnhof, very close to the Berlin Wall, was shut down to avoid people from the east from passing.

As it can’t be otherwise, we will visit the Bernauer Street, along which the most famous wall once was standing and which is without any doubt one of the most touching places in Berlin. Continuing our route we will see the Berlin Wall Memorial as well as the documentation centre to commemorate the victims who died trying to cross the wall, and the Chapel of Reconciliation, where the victims are remembered.

Our professional historical guide will share some breathtaking anecdotes of how some fearless men and women did unthinkable things to cross the Berlin Wall to get their freedom.

Finally, we will see the East Side Gallery, one of the largest open-air exhibition in the world which concentrates the major Berlin Wall remains, over 1-kilometer wall filled with complaints and desolation.

Among other places we will visit:

  • Palace of Tears
  • Ghost Station
  • Bernauer Strasse
  • Berlin Wall Memorial
  • Chapel of Reconciliation
  • Conrad Schumann Photography
  • East Side Gallery
